Monday, May 17th: Introduction / Syllabus

Assignment (for next class):

  • Register and develop the skeleton of a blog.
  • Read handouts by Solnit, Rebecca. “Open Door” and “The Blue of Distance” from A Field Guide to Getting Lost. New York: Penguin Books, 2005. [On Blackboard]
  • Bring your resume (whatever you have) to next class, as well as some examples of your work (see handout).

Wednesday, May 19th: Developing your Professional Artistic Identity – MEET IN INNOVATION, ROOM #327

Due:

  • Creative journal response to readings from Field Guide to Getting Lost – turn in copy in class.
  • Your blog url (due via email).
  • Bring in resumes (whether in draft form or old or completed) / to workshop.

Assignment (for next class):

  • Update resume.
  • Locate website examples of bio and artist statement to bring to class for discussion.
